Al Ries graduated from DePauw University, and quickly
worked his way into an advertising officer position at
General Electric. His dreams were great! The idea of
building the internet marketing industry to new heights may
have seemed quite impossible at the time, but he has since
declared a victory.
The first business that Al
Ries decided to take on was a company he founded called Ries
Capiello Colwell which was an advertising agency located in
New York City. This company soon evolved into Trout and
Ries with a main focus on marketing strategies. In 1994, Al
Ries decided to bring his daughter into the marketing
industry by starting a company called Ries & Ries which is
still run by both of them.
On top of being an excellent
strategist, Al Ries is also a highly thought of writer. He
has over 11 books that he has either authored or
co-authored. Laura Ries, his daughter, has helped him to
write and publish most of these books. Some titles that can
be found are; The Battle of Your Mind, Marketing Warfare,
Focus, and one of the latest The Origin of Brands.
“The Fall of Advertising &
Rise of PR”, was a huge hit in the marketing industry with
many magazines taking interest. USA Today, Harvard Business
Review, Boston Hope, and several others did a review on this
book with only good things to say. Al Ries also made it to
the best selling list in Business Week and The Wall Street
Journal.
Al Ries is the president of
Business Marketing Association, and the Advertising Club of
New York. He has also been featured in several magazines
with one labeling him as “Top in Marketing” and another
calling him the most influential in the marketing PR
business.
The empire that Al Ries has built from the ground up is
notable. Starting out with only a small dream, he has
created a large reality that is only going to get better.
