Dennis Waitley...

Dennis Waitley attended the U.S. Naval Academy and flew jets during the Korean War. After the war, he became a fundraiser and public relations man for Dr. Jonas Salk, who developed the polio vaccine. Dr. Salk convinced him to enroll at La Jolla University for a doctorate in Human Behavioral Psychology. After that, he began designing productivity seminars for NASA astronauts. Dennis Waitley met Earl Nightingale, an inspirational speaker, and Dr. Norman Vincent Peale and they became his mentors.

In the 1980s, Dennis Waitley worked with the U.S. Olympic teams as a psychologist and also gave seminars at many Fortune 500 companies. He wrote The Psychology of Winning, which became one of the bestselling ever audiotapes on personal achievement. He followed it with The Psychology of Winning As A Woman and The Psychology of Winning For The 21st Century. Other books he wrote include: The Seeds of Greatness (a family-based leadership program that stresses values) and The New Dynamics of Winning. His products focus on programming the mind for success and high achievement. He has sold over 10 million audiotapes in 14 languages.

In the 1990s, Dennis Waitley was referred to as a man with “Vince Lombardi power in a Bob Newhart personality.” He wrote Empires of the Mind in 1995. This book explains how one might successfully deal with life in a chaotic, frantic, and constantly changing economic world. In it, Dennis Waitley address both personal and business success. His major points are:

  • The economic world revolves around knowledge, not organizations, and we must constantly learn new information to maintain continuous improvement of the self. Only this will give us security – in business and in our personal lives.

  • We must be completely open-minded regarding new ideas; prejudices or shopworn ideas will only hold us back.

  • Lasting success can only come from personal integrity and taking responsibility for who we are and where we are going.

  • We must concentrate on the future, not on the past.

Dennis Waitley believes we live in an era of unlimited opportunity for personal and business success. Most recently, Dennis Waitley has written The Winner’s Edge and Safari To The Soul. He continues to work with Olympic teams. He has coached businesses in Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Latin America, Taiwan, China, and Malaysia. Here are some famous people’s quotes about Dennis Waitley:

“Lives there a man – or a woman – who doesn’t cherish the dream of becoming a winner? Denis Waitley has given the world a blueprint for success in achieving that dream.”
Mary Kay Ash, chairman emeritus Mary Kay Cosmetics

“Underachievers are not born, they are produced by the lack of leadership and knowledge. Real leaders empower everyone around them to become all they can be. His program offers you that power; if you will take the principles and internalize them, you can take your dreams and realize them.”
Dick Vermeil, Head Coach
Kansas City Chiefs, NFL
Former Superbowl Coach of the Year

“Denis Waitley’s Psychology of Winning changed my life. I draw on his strength to help me make decisions affecting American athletes, many of whom achieve world-class status.”
Tom Wilkinson, Colonel, USAF retired
United States Olympic Committee
