The life of Napoleon Hill was filled with many
great things, but it did not start that way. Born in 1883,
his family was struggling like most other families who were
living in poverty. This was a hard thing for young
Napoleon Hill to deal with, but things became much worst
when he lost his mother at only ten years old. It was
perhaps the pain from this experience that set him on his
path to better days.
Napoleon Hill started his first job at thirteen
as a writer of many small columns in local newspapers. The
hard earned money he saved was meant to pay his way through
college, but sadly it was not enough to keep him there
longer than a year. As any great man would, Napoleon Hill
kept going without ever looking back, determined to make a
better future for himself.
All of his hard work began to pay off when
meeting up with a man thought to be one of the richest in
the world, Andrew Carnegie, who asked him to help with the
publishing of his book that would show the world that the
process of becoming rich could be copied by even the poorest
of people. To gather information for the book over 500
millionaires had to be interviewed to get a simple “recipe”
on how to get rich. Napoleon Hill agreed to offer his
incredible talent in writing for only letters of reference,
not one single penny of pay.
As a true lover of life, Napoleon Hill enjoyed
it none the less completely mesmerized by the opportunity to
interview some of the greatest people of that time such as
Thomas Edison, Alexander Graham Bell, George Eastman, Henry
Ford, Elmer Gates, and over 400 more recognizable names.
This job was not an easy one and it was perhaps one of the
longest productions ever with the book being in development
for over 20 years. After so long working to make it perfect
the release of ‘The Law of Success’ was not only a great
relief but an incredible success. It went onto being
featured in home-study courses, and ‘Mental Dynamite’ which
was another popular book hitting the market in 1941.
While working for nothing on this masterpiece
Napoleon Hill had to do something to feed himself so he
worked other jobs when possible. Serving as the editor of
Hill’s Golden Rule magazine, and an advisor to President
Franklin Roosevelt he became familiar with so much of the
world whether ever having money or not he felt like the
richest man that had ever lived.
Napoleon Hill was a writer so it would be hard
to believe that he didn’t have his own publications. He
released a number of books that were loved by everyone, and
continue to be enjoyed today. Some of the titles are
The Ladder to Success, Think and Grow Rich How to Sell
Your Way through Life, How to Raise Your Own Salary Success
Through a Positive Mental Attitude and You Can Work Your Own
Miracles. Among those titles there is one absolute genius
book that, if you are a marketer, you have probably heard
about. Think and Grow Rich was the most successful writing
that Napoleon Hill ever produced. It was restored and
republished by Ross Comwell in 2004, who went in and updated
some of the information to make it work with the market
today. Luckily there is not a lot that has changed since
Napoleon Hill wrote about things dealing with mind,
attitude, and other philosophy type encouragements.
The bottom-line for Mr. Napoleon Hill is that there is no
bottom-line. That was what he lived for and that is what he
has received. I am a perfect stranger and here I am sharing
his incredible story which has impacted the marketing
industry. Mission accomplished Napoleon Hill!
